Home > Junior Football Junior Football2017 SEASON CHANGES The Essendon District Football League has now implemented an odd-numbered competition (ie. U9-U17) from this season. This mechanism now brings the EDFL in line with all other metropolitan leagues who have been administering an odd-numbered age group level for quite some time now. The EDFL has also extended the Junior season to 16 home and away rounds. As a result Round 1 commences on Sunday the 2nd of April. There will be 2 rounds, then a break for Easter, followed by the remaining 14 rounds. The Queen's Birthday long weekend will continue to be a bye week. With the extension of the season, we now play over 2 school holiday periods. If able can you please let your coaches know if you will be away over any holiday periods.
